Most unpredictable outcomes

most unpredictable outcomesAfter one of the most unpredictable outcomes in premier league season history in which 5000-1 odds outsiders Leicester taking the title. Leicester were considered at one point favourites for the drop. Chelsea whom were the favourites to reclaim the title in contrast have had a mediocre season with a mid-table finish expected. At one point in the season the term relegation was and Chelsea were spoken in same breath.

The season finale the bitter rivals of Manchester came to blows for the battle for 4th place. This resulted in a fight between the two Manchester giant’s reds vs blues. Vying for the race for the 4th spot through the season Manchester City has had the upper hand, but in recent matches Man Utd had sneaked in a position of taking the final champions league spot. Man Utd winning one weekend, and Man City only managing a point from Arsenal match gave the edge. This had left the most exciting finish for 4th spot in premier league history. It was just in recent times under Sir Alex Fergusons the final charge of the season these teams were going for the champions’ spot fighting the premiership title in the final game of the season.

The 4th spot City eventually sewn up after Man Utd loosing at Upton Park. It was a fitting win for West Ham at an emotional game at Upton Park. Next season they will be playing the Olympic stadium. The season ended for West Ham with Slaven Bilic men securing a respectable 7th position, and grab the final Europea league spot.

In contrast the Arsene Wenger out campaigners had another blow, as they finished well in second place. But at one points Arsenal were mounting a challenge to the title but they let the momentum slip away. They still sneaked in to second place, in front of their North London rivals Tottenham hot spurs. Spurs until the final few games on the season were ready to take the title if the Leicester slipped up. Looking back at the season Tottenham were disappointed they didn’t manage to win to the title considering the usual pretenders to throne were out of the challenge by March. But in contrast they would have gladly taken a third place finish if offered at beginning of the season.

In opposite spectrums to the exciting battles for top 4 battles of the premier league, to battle to avoid the drop was equally exciting. The North East rivals fought to keep to avoid the final relegation place, taking in to consideration a very poor Aston Villa and Norwhich failed to avoid the drop. Aston Villa through the season failed to put up a fight, with many villa fans blaming relegation Chairman Randy Learner for not investing over the years. The final position to avoid the drop with Newcastle losing the battle against local arch rivals Sunderland. It’s not been that long that Sam Allardyce was sacked from Newcastle, it was an ironic twist he has come to Sunderland and saved them from certain relegation, in which has sunk Newcastle in to lower tiers of English football.

The team of the season has been without a doubt Leicester, not just because they are champions but because for the way they played swash buckling exciting football. The player of the season was a close choice between Vardy and Mahrez.  Mahrez exciting football, who supplied the bullets for Vardy to score the vital goals. Vardy for his goals at key times keeping Leicester going. It is justified to award them joint player of the season.

Now no rest for football fans as we look forward to European Championships in held in France.
